Saccharine doughnut launch

I don’t know who does the copywriting for Krispy Kreme South Africa, but their latest press release about their new Spring range of doughnuts was so sickly sweet, I had to brush my teeth and go on diet after editing it down and removing all the fluff, such as: ‘sweet’, ‘surprise’, ‘delights’, ‘decadent’, ‘zesty’ and the ghastly ‘fun fusion’. Basically, Krispy Kreme has launched a ‘Spring Picnic’ range of new doughnut flavours that includes three new flavours: Mango & Lavender Dark Chocolate doughnut topped with edible lavender petals; Strawberries & Kreme White Chocolate; and the Lemon & Lime Coconut flavour. Adding to the picnic, is the Pineapple & Coconut Kremey Chiller, a pineapple and coconut flavoured vanilla chiller drink made with coconut milk. The new flavours are available in store from September 1-30. The Krispy Kreme app can be used to earn points and qualify for discounts.

A healthy donation

Dettol has donated 400 handwash stations and a million bars of soap to be used at public health facilities around the country, in the continuing fight against COVID-19. Deputy Health Minister, Dr Joe Phaahla, officially received the donation. Dettol has already begun the deployment of the stations and soap directly to public health clinics countrywide. The donation is part of the Dettol Protects the Frontline campaign, which was launched in partnership with the National Department of Health; the Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and Western Cape Departments of Health; and healthcare impact company, Triple Eight. Dettol and Triple Eight’s campaign, with the support of government, aims to help health workers in the firing line in the battle against COVID-19 and focuses on hand-hygiene behavioural change. The Dettol foot-pump handwashing stations include step-by-step instructions for correct handwashing with soap and clean water and will be placed at clinic entrances, where handwashing will be mandatory before entry. Together with the million bars of soap, this intervention will help approximately 200,000 individuals in public health facilities in South Africa each day.

Check-out this freezer

Staycold International are officially launching a half door freezer into their range, the HD580F. This was developed by Staycold because of a need from the market for a low footprint display freezer for check-out isles in supermarkets. This impulse buy freezer is manufactured in Staycold’s ISO9001:2015 approved factory in Parys with full safety approval and is now ready for dispatch in South Africa and abroad. Currently there is no other company in South Africa that provides a half door freezer solution. This freezer drives sales in the hotspot area of the store at check-out and fits in with a brand’s look and feel, so it was important for the company to develop this locally and as an environmentally friendly product. The units also had to be aesthetically pleasing at they are mostly placed at check-out areas for impulse purchases such as ice-creams. Besides the lower footprint than other conventional ice cream freezers, this freezer also operates frost free, maintains temperature below -20°C, has LED lighting, a heated glass door, uses eco-friendly refrigerant and has an optional left-hand hinge door operation.
