How to market yourself out of a pandemic
Flux Trends is back this week with a Marketing Masterclass; and RetailingAfrica.com is again offering discounted tickets to the Wednesday session on September 23, 10am – 11.30am. Flux Trends has always used its mantra, Trends as Business Strategy, to help businesses navigate disruption and formulate forward-thinking strategies that will enable them to stay ahead of the competition. That is why it created the Alinea Masterclass Series. Part one addressed concerns around the retail sector; part two will explore ways to promote and market businesses whilst considering clients’ needs; and the third masterclass will concentrate on innovation and entrepreneurship to inspire a confident and alternative approach in how we do business during these uncertain times.
The Marketing Masterclass is the second in the series. As Flux Trends states: “Based on our initial survey of business owners, the challenges around marketing were frequently brought up. How to market and engage during a pandemic? The appropriateness of marketing aggressively. The language of empathy. For social media marketing, which platform to use when there is digital and screen fatigue?” Flux says that the crucial question marketers need to ask is, “How do I create trust and customer engagement in a saturated information landscape?” Speakers include Kirsty Bisset, a successful tech entrepreneur; strategist Lindile Ndube; entrepreneur and start-up investor Mike Stopforth; and Praise Majwafi, described as an agent of the creative economy. Helping companies scale innovation
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Masterclass is the third in the series. One of the more surprising outcomes of the pandemic and lockdown was seeing new, innovative business models emerging – against all odds – servicing communities off the traditional corporate radar. These new start-ups have unearthed opportunities that will have established brands and businesses kicking themselves for not identifying what was right under their noses. One of Flux’s key services is to help companies scale innovation. Speakers include: Lesley Williams, CEO of Wits University’s Tshimologong Precinct; Lee Naik, TransUnion Africa CEO; Sylvester Chauke, founder and chief architect of DNA Brand Architects; and Tshidi Morabi, the inventor of LocTransie, a mobile application that connects parents with their child’s school transport system. Booking is now open for the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Masterclass on September 30, at 10am.
